Though it starts off mild, it only gets worse if it\u2019s left untreated and can eventually cause receding gumlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Your dentist will work with you to clear up any periodontal problems before placing prosthetics because they can interfere with your results. The implant site is more likely to become infected when gum disease is present. Plus, if your connective tissues are pulling away from your teeth, it won\u2019t be able to provide a firm foundation for your pearly whites. #2: Bone Loss<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

For example, diabetes impacts your blood sugar, which can slow down your recovery. It also increases the likelihood of gum disease, which is especially risky for this type of restoration. Also, if you have blood clotting disorders, immune problems, or heart conditions, then you might not be able to safely have the procedure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
